Are you really an English Teacher?

In my country, Venezuela, it is common to know about people who work as English Teachers without any knowledge of pedagogy or education principles. However, there are people who study at least five years at university to get a degree to teach English. If you are a future English Teacher, what do you think about this matter? Is the knowledge of methodology necessary to teach English?
